Students from Mankada sub-district took the lead with 407 points on the second day of the 36th district school arts festival being held at Wandoor on Wednesday (November 19, 2025). The curtain had gone up on the festival on Tuesday (November 18, 2025), setting a record of sorts with 11,301 registrations.
As many as 5,300 students are taking part in the high school (HS) category, 3,751 in the higher secondary (HSS) category, and 2,250 in the upper primary (UP) category.

Malappuram sub-district was in second position with 373 points, Vengara in third with 359 points, followed by Kondotty (356), Nilambur (354), Manjeri (348), Tirur (348), Kuttippuram (336), Ponnani (325), and Melattur (324).
Competitions are expected to peak in the coming days. The five-day festival will conclude on Saturday (November 22, 2025).

PMSA Memorial District Cooperative Hospital, Malappuram, has set up a counter at Wandoor offering free health checkups for students, parents, and teachers. The hospital has also arranged an emergency wing providing first aid and medical monitoring at various venues.
The District Sanitation Mission has introduced a comprehensive green monitoring system for the festival. Mission officials said the promotion of eco-friendly products and scientific waste management had become essential.

Students are being taught that the waste they generate is their own responsibility.
A green quiz and a spot photography competition on the theme ‘Green Kalolsavam’ have been arranged for the students.
