Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has underscored the vital role of medical education in nation-building. The Chief Minister, who was the chief guest at the Induction Day of a new batch of MBBS students at Takshashila Medical College, under the Takshashila University in Tindivanam, urged young medical professionals to serve society with compassion and integrity.
S. Jagathrakshakan, Member of Parliament and founder-chairman of Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (Private) University, pointed to the changing higher education landscape and encouraged students to combine academic pursuit and innovation with social responsibility.
In his presidential address, M. Dhanasekaran, Chancellor of Takshashila University, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to quality medical education, research excellence, and holistic student development. Vice-Chancellor Vivek Inder Kochhar highlighted the university’s academic and research agenda, while Registrar S. Senthil outlined the academic framework and student-focused initiatives.
Pro-Chancellors D. Rajarajan and D. Nila Priyadharshani stressed the importance of ethical medical practices in an era of rapidly evolving technologies. Among those who participated were M. Jayashree, Dean, Takshashila Medical College, C. Prasath, Medical Superintendent, senior university administrators including R. Subramaniyan, Dean (Academic Affairs), K. Seetharaman, Dean (Admin), A. Suphalakshmi, Dean (Engineering), and S. Deepa, Dean (Arts and Science), along with officials from the Trust, representatives from Mailam Group of Institutions and Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College, provincial leaders, faculty, parents and students.
