Foundation trustee Vivek Alva said, “Ningol Chakouba is not just a festival; it is a celebration of identity. While it is traditionally celebrated in Manipur, observing it here in the southern region carries special meaning. It helps students staying far from home to stay connected to their cultural roots”.
He further noted that the celebration represents cultural harmony and added, “This festival transcends boundaries of community and religion. The Northeast and the South stand together and with that unity comes the responsibility to preserve and respect each other’s traditions.”
As part of the event, students excelling in academics were honoured across various streams. The event featured cultural performances, including Matam Jagoi and Manipuri Remix Dance, showcasing the region’s rich heritage. Guests and students were served traditional Manipuri cuisines such as Ooti, Eeromba, Kanghou, Yen Thongba, Hei Thongba, Champhut, and Shana Thongba.
Alva’s College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences principal Vanitha Shetty, Pharmacy College principal M. Manjunath Setty, Law College principal Mahantesh and others were present.
The celebration concluded with a lively performance of the Manipuri folk dance Thabal Chongba, symbolising unity, joy, and togetherness.
