Taking a step further to abolish the State madrasa board, the Uttarakhand government on Tuesday formed the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority which will decide the syllabus of the education institutions meant for the minorities.
Special Secretary Parag Madhukar Dhakate said Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had, in the last Assembly session, announced the dissolution of the Uttarakhand Madarsa Education Board. “All minority institutions would be brought under the umbrella of the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority and their recognition would be done by the State Education Board,” he said.
Surjit Singh Gandhi has been made the chairman of the 12-member authority, which includes the Director of College Education, Director of State Educational Research, and Director of Minority Welfare. The madrasa board will be abolished in July this year.
