Municipality issues guidelines for public to celebrate Navaratri (Kumar)

The Oulgaret municipal administration has issued guidelines for celebrating the Navaratri festival.

Oulgaret Municipality Commissioner A. Suresh Raj urged the public and commercial establishments to refrain from breaking pumpkins and leaving pieces on the road during the celebration of Ayudha Puja.

While the practice is popular as it is believed to ward off the “evil eye”, the broken pieces left on the road can cause accidents for two-wheelers and pedestrians stepping on it, the Municipality said in a press note.

The Municipality has also appealed to the public and traders to avoid single-use plastic items, including carry bags or decoration pieces, which have been completely banned.
