The need for purpose-driven innovation was highlighted during the presentation of Dr. Venkataswamy Award for Sustainable Social Innovation at Gnanam School of Business, Sengipatti, near here recently.
Presenting the award, instituted in the name of Aravind Eye Care Systems founder Dr. G. Venkataswamy, to Dinesh Baluraj, founder, Yali Aerospace, Chief Medical Officer of Aravind Eye Hospital in Thanjavur, Karthick Srinivasan said that Dr. Venkataswamy made quality eye treatment accessible and affordable to all. Further, Auro Lab, an in-house manufacturing lab engaged in the manufacturing of low-cost, high-quality ophthalmic consumables, was a shining example of self-reliance and social entrepreneurship.
Dr. Karthick Srinivasan called upon the business school students to embrace Dr. Venkataswamy’s principles of clarity, compassion and purpose-driven innovation.
Receiving the award, Mr. Dinesh Baluraj narrated how Yali Aerospace contributed to the nation’s growth by developing indigenous aerospace solutions for social and humanitarian applications.
