New 2,000-bed Osmania General Hospital complex construction begins in Hyderabad

Construction of the new Osmania General Hospital complex began on Thursday with Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) launching work at the Goshamahal Police Stadium site.

The groundbreaking coincided with Dasara, where MEIL’s president of Projects, K. Govardhan Reddy, performed rituals before formally commencing operations. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had laid the foundation stone on January 31 this year.

The upcoming state-of-the-art hospital is slated to be completed in 30 months. Spread across 26 acres with a built-up area of 32 lakh sq. ft., the facility will accommodate 2,000 beds. It will include a hospital block covering nearly 23 lakh sq. ft., an academic block, separate hostels for men and women, a dharamshala, mortuary, utility facilities and a security building. Parking for 1,500 cars will be provided through a two-level basement.

The design incorporates green building principles, including rooftop terrace gardens and cross-ventilation technologies aimed at ensuring continuous airflow and patient comfort.

Mr.Govardhan Reddy said the project would be executed within the stipulated timeframe and assured that the new complex would match the standards of leading private hospitals, equipped with modern infrastructure and advanced medical technology.
