The government will not give permission for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to hold roadshow in Puducherry as proposed by the party on December 5, said Speaker R. Selvam on Tuesday (December 2, 2025).
“The government will not permit TVK to hold roadshow as planned by the party in Puducherry. But, the government could consider any other demand of the party for TVK president Vijay to meet public here,” Speaker Selvam said in response to a question from media persons at a press conference in the Legislative Assembly.
Last week, a delegation of leaders representing TVK’s Puducherry unit had met Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Director General of Police Shalini Singh seeking permission for the roadshow. The party had planned to hold the roadshow on a stretch from Kalapet to Kannikoil bordering Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu.
The roadshow was planned along Ajantha Signal, Sonampalayam, Ariankuppam, Thavalakuppam, and Kirumampakkam areas of Puducherry, during which Mr. Vijay would address people at important junctions. Meanwhile, TVK general secretary (Election Campaign Management) Aadhav Arjuna reached Puducherry to consult party leaders on the future course of action.
