Villianur Police in Puducherry have registered a case against Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief Seeman and two others on charges of threatening a journalist during a press conference in the Union Territory on Sunday (November 24, 2025). 

Following a complaint filed by an aggrieved journalist, the police registered the case under section 296 (b), 115 (2) and 351 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Seeman and his supporters. They have been accused of “assaulting the journalist after abusing him and threatening with dire consequences.” 

The incident took place at a press conference on the sidelines of a consultative meeting of NTK’s Puducherry unit where he got agitated over a question raised by the television reporter on the issue of Special Intensive Revision and the Union government’s decision to reject Metro Rail project proposals for Madurai and Coimbatore. 

Mr. Seeman got agitated and scolded the reporter for asking “wrong” questions. Several journalists’ associations have come out strongly against the behaviour of Mr. Seeman at the press conference.
