Traffic Police of Hyderabad and Cyberabad have booked over 980 motorists for drunk driving during a special two-day drive from November 28-29.
Among those caught in Hyderabad, 438 were on two-wheelers, 45 were driving three-wheelers and 69 were at the wheel of cars or other vehicles. Police said the numbers reflected a familiar pattern in which two-wheeler riders form the bulk of offenders.
In Cyberabad, two-wheelers made up the majority of violations, accounting for 325 cases, followed by 86 four-wheelers, 16 three-wheelers and four heavy vehicles.
Most offenders recorded Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels between 35 mg and 200 mg per 100 ml, while 11 motorists were found with dangerously high levels ranging from 301 mg to 550 mg. All the accused will be produced before court.
