Many parts of Erode district received continuous rainfall since Sunday (November 23, 2025) evening, accompanied by thunder.
Erode city witnessed a heavy downpour, leading to waterlogging in several low-lying areas on Monday. At the Nethaji vegetable and fruit market, slush and accumulated rainwater caused severe inconvenience to shoppers and traders. Waterlogging at the railway underpass at Vendipalayam created hardship for pedestrians and two-wheeler riders, prompting renewed demands from road users for a permanent solution to the recurring issue.
Modakkurichi and its surrounding areas experienced particularly intense rainfall. Showers continued into Monday morning, inconveniencing schoolchildren and office-goers, while overcast skies prevailed throughout the day.
The district recorded a total of 381 mm of rainfall, with Modakkurichi receiving the maximum at 87 mm. Rainfall in other areas stood at: Kodumudi – 59 mm, Erode – 42 mm, Perundurai – 42 mm, Elandakuttai Medu – 21 mm, Thalavadi – 20 mm, Chennimalai – 18.40 mm, Sathyamangalam – 18 mm, Nambiyur – 17 mm, Bhavani – 13 mm, and Gobichettipalayam – 11.20 mm.
