Pastor David Leslie Anderson Commended for Continued Excellence in Religion and Spiritual Services

COLUMBIA, SC, July 11, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — Pastor David Leslie Anderson has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. Mr. Anderson has dedicated his life to serving others through his work with the Union United Methodist Church in Irmo, South Carolina. As the minister of visitation since 2018, he coordinates the ministry of visitation, the lay Stephen Ministry program and the congregational care committee. His role involves providing pastoral care and support to church members, particularly those who are sick, homebound or facing other challenges. This position allows him to work within the church to bring people to a better knowledge of God, a role he takes great pride in.

Before his current position, Mr. Anderson served as a conference benefits officer for the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church from 2006 to 2018. During this time, he was responsible for overseeing pension and benefits administration, earning recognition for outstanding leadership in this area in 2015. Concurrently, he was also a pastor at Greene Street United Methodist Church from 2012 to 2018.

Mr. Anderson’s earlier pastoral experience includes serving The Orange Circuit of the United Methodist Church from 2003 to 2005. Prior to entering ministry, he had an extensive career in public service with the State of South Carolina. He was the director of the state health plan from 1989 to 2003 and previously worked as an assistant state budget director and budget analyst for seven years within the State Budget Division, Health and Human Services and Correctional Agencies.

Academically, Mr. Anderson’s background laid a strong foundation for his diverse career path. He earned a Master of Divinity from Erskine Theological Seminary in 2003, which equipped him with theological knowledge essential for his ministerial roles. Earlier, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government from the University of South Carolina in 1973. He has enhanced his leadership skills through the State Executives Training Program at the Executive Institute of the Harvard Institute of Government.

Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Anderson is deeply engaged in civic and community activities. He has participated in mission trips to Guatemala with Healing Guatemala and served as a spiritual director for workshops on spiritual formation with Emmaus of the Midlands. Additionally, he shepherds new minister prospects through the Columbia District Committee, volunteers as a chaplain and Stephen Minister at Richland Hospital and has been involved with the Columbia Rotary Club for 10 years.

In his personal life, Mr. Anderson enjoys attending university sports events and supporting his granddaughters’ sports activities. Looking back on his career, he gives credit for his success to hard work, opportunities, faith and a good work ethic. In the upcoming years, he plans to continue serving his church and community while hoping to embark on another mission trip.
