The Greater Chennai Police have intensified their probe to unravel the drug network of film producer Sarbuddin, two days after his arrest.
Sarbuddin is a co-producer of the Tamil film Eeswaran starring Simbu.
The Thirumangalam police arrested Diyaneshwaran, 26, in Anna Nagar on November 19, based on information about drug peddling in the area, and seized four LSD stamps from him.
Cash seized
Based on his confession, the police traced Sarbuddin Mohammad Masthan of Teynampet and R. Sarath of Valasaravakkam, and K. Srinivasan of Mogappair East. They seized ₹27.91 lakh from Sarbuddin’s car and 10 grams of OG ganja from Srinivasan’s house. According to a senior police officer, the seized cash belonged to a Hyderabad-based firm engaged in poll-related work.
Following this, the police conducted enquiries with Hari of a strategy consulting firm, and Sai, the proprietor of another subsidiary firm. After being issued notices under 35(3) of the BNSS, they were allowed to leave.
