The historic Pydimamba temple in Vizianagaram will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.80 crore.
The project is aimed at providing more amenities to the pilgrims, besides ensuring hassle-free parking in an around the temple located at the Three Lanterns junction in the city.
With the Detailed Project Report (DPR) ready, the development works are expected to begin soon, and the government may acquire properties adjacent to the temple to avoid congestion on the temple premises.
It has become a Herculean task for the temple authorities to handle pilgrim rush, especially during festivals when the queue lines are extending up to the old urban bank premises on the busy stretch between the Fort and the Three Lanterns junction.
Post acquisition of properties under the development project, the queue lines can be created within the temple area.
MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas has directed the authorities to complete the development works in one year so that pilgrims can have a hassle-free darshan during Sirimanotsavam in October 2026.
Goa Governor and temple Trust Board Chairman Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju has made a few suggestions to the authorities.
