A quarrel claimed the life of a 45-year-old man at Silaiman here on Monday night.
According to police, Pethuraj, 45, of Kalavasal, and Pandi, 39, of Usilampatti, were employed in a waste segregation firm located at Silaiman.
As they both had the practice of staying in the workplace, police said, they had consumed alcohol together after their work in the night.
An argument which started between them turned into a quarrel and in the heat, Pethuraj attempted to hit Pandi with an iron rod.
Pandi, trying to defend himself, grabbed the rod and hit it on Pethuraj’s head. Pethuraj fainted and died in the same place.
Silaiman police who were informed by the neighbours rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. Police have registered a case.
