A Deputy Tahsildar, attached to the District Civil Supplies Office in Kongara Kalan village in Rangareddy district, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday (December 9) for accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 for performing an official favour.

The accused officer, identified as Hanuma Ravinder Naik, was trapped by the officials of the ACB’s Rangareddy range unit.

According to the ACB, the officer had demanded the money from a complainant for clearing a PDS rice-related case and for waiving a fine required to reopen the complainant’s ration shop. The bribe amount was recovered from Naik’s possession during the trap.

He was arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally. Further investigation is under way, and the complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons.

The ACB reiterated that citizens can report bribery demands by public servants through its toll-free number 1064, or via WhatsApp, Facebook and X. QR codes displayed in government offices and public spaces also allow citizens to reach the bureau. The agency assured that complainant identities would remain confidential.
