Russian rescuers have found the fuselage of an Antonov-24 passenger plane that disappeared from radar earlier in Russia’s far east, the Emergencies Ministry said Thursday (July 24, 2025).
“An Mi-8 helicopter operated by Rosaviatsiya (Russia’s civil aviation authority) has spotted the burning fuselage of the aircraft,” Russia’s Emergencies Ministry said on Telegram.
According to the news agency TASS, the plane crash has no survivors. The agency further added that one of the reasons for the crash is likely to be an error by the crew during landing in poor visibility.
Earlier, air traffic controllers lost contact with an An-24 passenger plane carrying about 50 people in Russia’s far east, the Interfax and SHOT news outlets said.
SHOT said the plane, operated by the Angara Airlines, was headed for the town of Tynda in the Amur region bordering China, and was believed to be a few kilometres away from its destination when it lost contact.
