The police arrested sanitation workers who staged a protest outside the residence of Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran at Kilpauk on Friday.
Sanitation workers employed with the Greater Chennai Corporation have been engaging in a series of phased protests, pressing 16 demands, including the regularisation of their services and the withdrawal of the move to privatise civic sanitation work.
Sanitation workers in Royapuram and Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar zones have also been carrying out continuous protests to press various demands, including making them permanent government employees.
