Officials of the South Central Railway (SCR), Vijayawada Division, have reported record ticket checking earnings of ₹1.22 crore during a special drive, said Senior Divisional Commercial Manager B. Prasantha Kumar.
Over 700 ticket-checking staff booked 17,017 cases during the three-day drive held from October 13 to 15, ahead of the Deepavali festival. “We registered 7,928 cases of ticketless travel, 9,034 of irregular travel, and 55 involving unbooked luggage,” Mr. Prasantha Kumar said.
Divisional Railway Manager Mohit Sonakiya commended the Commercial Department and other staff for their vigilance against unauthorised and irregular travel. He urged passengers to travel with valid tickets.
