Police have tightened security in Chittoor ahead of Friday’s verdict in the Katari Anuradha and Katari Mohan double murder case. The IXth Additional District Judge Court will pronounce the verdict, a decade after the double murder that shocked the State.
Deputy SP (Chittoor) T. Sainath told the media here on Thursday that Section 30 of the Police Act is in force, prohibiting rallies, gatherings, and celebrations. “Only court staff will be allowed inside the court premises. We have enforced traffic diversions around the court area,” the Deputy SP said, adding that security has been beefed up at the residences of Chittoor Urban Development Authority (CHUDA) Chairperson Katari Hemalatha, daughter-in-law of the slain mayor couple, former MLA C.K. Babu, the presiding judge, Assistant Public Prosecutor, and the complainant.
The Deputy SP cautioned that police have kept a close watch on suspects and social media to prevent provocative posts.
