Nearly a month after its premiere, Aryan Khan’s Netflix debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood has found an admirer in politician and author Shashi Tharoor. The Congress MP took to X (formerly Twitter) to pen an elaborate review of the series, calling it “one of the best things I have ever treated myself to.”

Tharoor shared that he had been recovering from a cold and cough when his sister, Smita Tharoor, and his staff persuaded him to watch the show. “It’s one of the best things I have ever treated myself to: absolute #OTT GOLD!” he wrote, before praising the show’s sharp writing, bold direction, and audacious tone.
“Just finished watching Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, and I’m left grasping for words of praise. It takes time to grow on you, but then you’re irresistibly hooked! The writing is sharp, the direction is fearless, and the sheer audacity of this satire is just what Bollywood needed,” Tharoor said in his post.
He further described the seven-episode series as “a genius, often hilarious, sometimes moving, and always unflinching look beyond the glamour,” lauding it for its razor-sharp wit and insider humour. “The seven compelling episodes mark the arrival of a true storytelling powerhouse. Take a bow, Aryan Khan—you’ve delivered a masterpiece,” he added, tagging Shah Rukh Khan and concluding with a warm note: “@iamsrk : from one father to another, let me say: you must be so proud!!”
While Shah Rukh Khan has not yet responded to Tharoor’s post, this is not the first time the two have shared light-hearted exchanges online. Earlier this year, when Tharoor congratulated SRK on winning the National Award for Jawan, the actor had replied with his trademark wit, “Thank u for the simple praise Mr Tharoor. Would not have understood something more magniloquent and sesquipedalian ha ha (sic).”

Aryan Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood premiered on Netflix on September 18, 2025, under Red Chillies Entertainment. The satirical action comedy drama stars Bobby Deol, Lakshya Lalwani, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, Anya Singh, and Manoj Pahwa, among others. The show has been praised for its irreverent humour, layered storytelling, and a fresh take on the underbelly of the film industry.
