Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has shared a thought-provoking perspective on the transformative power of artificial intelligence, suggesting it may fundamentally redefine human organisation and leadership. Calling AI “the most democratic technology in history,” Kapur believes it will “suck inertia out of existing structures,” breaking down traditional hierarchies and challenging the conventional pyramid of power.

In a recent post on X, Kapur highlighted how AI could enable a more fluid, intuitive, and collective approach to collaboration. Drawing inspiration from the murmuration of sparrows—thousands of birds moving in perfect synchrony without a leader—he described a future where human interaction will no longer rely on rigid hierarchies. “No hierarchy. No command chain. Just intuition connecting individuals to a collective purpose,” he wrote.
Kapur envisions a world in which individuals operate as their own CEOs, forming and dissolving “tribes” based on purpose rather than permanence. In this scenario, leadership itself evolves from control to collaboration, putting even CEOs “under threat” and emphasizing the need for adaptability and creativity.
Central to his philosophy is the concept of “intuitivity,” which Kapur identifies as the defining skill for the AI era. “Logic and experience belong to the past; instinct and creativity will shape the future,” he asserts. Rather than limiting human potential, AI becomes a tool to rediscover it—a catalyst for constant change, collective creativity, and intuitive intelligence.
