Setting aside the conviction and sentence of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the murder case of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati this past week, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has, in its order, observed that the solitary evidence of the alleged conspiracy by Khatta Singh “kept on tossing from one side to the other like a ping pong ball” and he was not a reliable witness.
The Court of Special Judge (CBI), Panchkula, had on January 11, 2019, held Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh guilty of criminal conspiracy in the murder case and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
