Student from Kozhikode on a mission to conquer Mount Everest

Aman Ali, a native of Arakinar near Beypore in Kozhikode, is on a mission to conquer Mount Everest. He suffers from a locomotor disability related to cerebral palsy and was born without both hands.

Ali is part of a 20-member team led by mountaineer Sheikh Hassan Khan that will leave for Nepal from Thiruvananthapuram on Monday (August 4, 2025). A Class XI Humanities student at Rahmaniya Higher Secondary School for the Handicapped in the city, Ali says he aims to hoist the tricolour at the Everest Base Camp on the country’s 78th Independence Day. The school’s National Service Scheme volunteers and programme officer T. Shahul Hameed raised ₹35,000 to cover his expenses. A farewell party was recently organised at the school. Principal Subaida and teachers Poonthala Naushadali, E.P. Taufeeq, and P.K. Muhammed Shamim were present.
