Student sends bomb threat to school to avoid exams, apprehended

A student of Vishal Bharati School in west Delhi’s Paschim Vihar was apprehended on Friday for sending a hoax bomb threat to his school in order to avoid taking an exam, an officer said. A case has been registered by the police, he added.

On Thursday, the principal of the school made a PCR call to the Paschim Vihar East police station and reported receiving an e-mail about a bomb that had been planted on the premises. “Multiple teams reached the school and the building was evacuated. Teams of bomb disposal squad, dog squad and fire department were called in to carry out thorough checks,” the officer said. The threat was later declared to be a hoax after nothing suspicious was found on the premises.

During investigation, the cyber team of the police station traced the email to a student of the same school. “When he was questioned, the student admitted to sending the threat because he was afraid of writing the exam and wanted the school to declare a holiday,” the officer added.
