Sun Prairie Area School District partners with Instagram to combat online bullying

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Sun Prairie Area School District is working to keep students safe on social media as it is now an official partner with Instagram.

A release that the district sent out on Tuesday explained staff from the District Support Center participated in a pilot program in February.

During this program, staff took part in a focus group to give feedback on Instagram’s School Partnership Program and discussed ways to improve the program to help school districts nationally.

The partnership program is designed to reduce online safety issues and bullying among middle and high school students.

In order to become a partner for the program, school districts must apply on a waitlist. Once they are accepted, they register with Instagram to become an official partner.

With this program, schools receive priority reporting tools, digital safety information for students and families and a banner on the district’s profile.
