Experts have emphasised the importance of including data analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern teaching methods and academic research during a training initiative organised at Pondicherry University recently for faculty from across the country.

Addressing the short-term programme on “Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence for Teaching and Research,” hosted by the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Center (MMTTC), Pondicherry University, technology experts said the orientation was an imperative for teachers to keep up with the fast-changing world of technology.

The six-day programme aimed to prepare the faculty-participants to adopt innovation in their research and teaching areas by giving them hands-on training in advanced computational tools. The sessions were led by experts in the field of Data Analytics and AI from the industry and academia.

Following the formal opening by K. Tharanikkarasu, Director of SEI and RR at Pondicherry University, Udayakumar Ramamurthy, Managing Director of Accenture in Chennai, offered a special talk on the theme.

Rajneesh Bhutani, Registrar(i/c), Pondicherry University, and Jawahar Govind Raj, AI Transformation Expert from Tech Mahindra, Chennai, distributed certificates to the participants.

S. Siva Sathya, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology; P.G. Arul, Director of the MMTTC; Pothula Sujatha, course coordinator; S.K.V. Jayakumar, Head, Department of Computer Science, Pondicherry University; and K. Srujana, Assistant Professor at MMTTC, participated.
