Ayushmann Khurrana has done it again! Trade analysts credit this powerful start to the combination of Ayushmann’s credibility in offbeat genres and producer Dinesh Vijan’s growing Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). Over the years, Maddock has cultivated a strong following for its high-concept, entertaining stories that blend humour with supernatural elements. With Thamma, that universe expands, and its fanbase clearly showed up in full force over the Diwali weekend.
What makes Thamma’s debut even more significant is the competition it faced. Releasing in a festive frame, the film managed to carve its own audience, pulling crowds through strong word-of-mouth and the allure of Ayushmann’s unconventional “Betaal” act — a role no mainstream Bollywood hero has attempted before.
Given its start, Thamma is expected to witness a robust weekend trend. Early projections indicate that the film could clock around Rs. 70 crore by Sunday, a number that would firmly establish it as one of 2025’s most profitable ventures.
