Three fishermen were rescued and admitted to hospital on Saturday after their fishing boat capsized in rough sea off the coast of Vedaranyam in Nagapattinam district.
The fishermen — Anjappan, Harish, and Selvarasu — residents of Vanavanmahadevi village had ventured into the sea on Friday on a traditional fibre boat.
While returning to the shore in the early hours of Saturday, the boat capsized following strong winds and rough waves. On receiving information, fellow fishermen in the vicinity rushed to the spot and safely rescued the three men.
All three were subsequently taken to the Government Medical College Hospital in Orathur, Nagapattinam, for treatment. Their condition is said to be stable.
