Three police constables attached to Nungambakkam police station have been placed under suspension following an allegation that they had forcibly received ₹15,000 from a hotel staff who went to lodge a complaint.
Police sources said the complainant was employed by a star hotel. Three days ago, while he was returning home, transpersons waylaid him and robbed ₹5,000. Following this, he went to lodge a complaint with the police. The trio questioned him on why he went to transpersons, and forcibly received ₹15,000 from him instead of investigating his complaint.
The complainant reported it to the higher officials and based on a preliminary enquiry, the constables were placed under suspension.
