TN Bar Council orders inquiry into attack on lawyer by VCK cadres

The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry (BCTNP) has constituted a special committee to probe the incident of a lawyer having been allegedly assaulted and his two-wheeler damaged by Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) workers outside the Madras High Court premises on October 7.

In a release, BCTNP chairman P.S. Amalraj said the council had requested its co-chairpersons R. Arunachalam and D. Saravanan to conduct the inquiry and submit a report within two weeks.

“It is made clear that the office of the Bar Council shall provide its fullest assistance to the committee for completing the inquiry. Further, in view of this,  all the members of the Bar and legal fraternity are requested to refrain from abstaining the court proceedings or causing any hindrance to, or interference in, the administration of justice,” the release said.
