Cadre of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) staged demonstrations in Tiruchi and other districts in the central region on Sunday against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls exercise in Tamil Nadu.
The demonstrations at different places in the region were organised as per a State-wide call given by the party on this issue. In Tiruchi, the cadre assembled at Sarukkuparai area in the Fort area and staged the demonstration for nearly an hour.
According to the party, the Special Intensive Revision of electoral roll would eventually “snatch away” the voting rights of the electorate. The party cadre raised slogans and carried placards containing messages to stop the ongoing Special Intensive Revision exercise.
The demonstration in Thanjavur was held near the head post office. In Pudukottai town, the cadre took part in the demonstration organised at Thilagar Thidal. Similar demonstrations were held in Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, and Mayiladuthurai towns.
