Two persons were arrested for stealing 3.5 kg of gold jewellery on Thursday (September 18, 2025).
According to the police, S. Sankar, a resident of Coimbatore working in a jewellery manufacturing shop, took 3.5 kg of jewellery to Puducherry on Monday (September 15, 2025) in an omnibus. While the bus stopped in a tea shop, Sankar got down, and when he returned, he found his bag missing. The Sankari police investigated and special teams were formed.
Police investigations revealed that Balasubramanian (57), a resident of Siddhapudur in Coimbatore, who is also a goldsmith, along with his accomplice Merija (28), a resident of Cuddalore district, stole the jewellery. On Thursday, the police arrested the duo, recovered the jewellery and are investigating further.
