The Melmaruvathur All Women Police, Chengalpattu district, have arrested two suspects, including a local Shiv Sena functionary, for committing penetrative sexual assault on a minor girl in Athivakkam village near Maduranthakam on Sunday.
Police sources said a 17-year-old boy from the Tambaram area took his friends — two girls aged 14 and 16 — on his two-wheeler to Keezhakandai near Maduranthakam around midnight on Sunday. While travelling via Devathur, two unidentified men, who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol, began following them.
