Two para swimmers from Belagavi bag medals in international event

Two para swimmers from Belagavi have won prizes at an international event.

Shridhar Malagi and Sahil Jadhav won several medals at the Reykjavik International Games held in Iceland recently.

Shridhar Malagi won a gold medal in 50 metre breast stroke, silver in 50 metre butterfly, 400 metre freestyle and 100 metre freestyle. He won bronze medals in 50 metre freestyle , 100 metre backstroke and 100 metre butterfly.

Sahil Jadhav won a silver medal in 50 metre backstroke and bronze medal in 200 metre individual medley. He stood fourth in three other events and fifth in one. They are students of Swimmers’ Club and Aquarius swim club, and they were sponsored by Polyhydron foundation. They undergo training at the Suvarna JNMC Swimming Pool.

Umesh Kalghatagi, Akshay Sheregar, Ajinkya Mendke, Nitish Kuduchkar and Govardhan Kakatkar are thier coaches, said a release.
