Two TTD potu workers among three killed in road accident


Three persons were killed on the spot and three others were critically injured in a collision between two cars near Thadukupeta of Nagari mandal in Chittoor district on Tuesday (December 09).

The police said both vehicles were travelling at high speed when they crashed head-on, leaving the inmates trapped inside. Passersby alerted the police, who swung into the rescue operation. The injured were shifted the Government Area Hospital in Nagari.

Two of the deceased were identified as Shankaram and Santanam, potu (kitchen) workers at the Padmavathi Ammavaru Temple of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in Tiruchanur near Tirupati. The third was a resident of Tamil Nadu, police said.

Minister for Transport Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy expressed shick at the death of the potu workers, terming it “deeply saddening.”

The Nagari police registered a case and took up further investigation.
