Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Wednesday (October 22, 2025) inspected the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on the Ripon Buildings campus to review the preparedness and response measures for the ongoing Northeast monsoon.
Speaking to reporters, he said Chennai had received two spells of rain — one around midnight and another at 4.30 a.m. “We monitored the situation closely through the ICCC. A few complaints received via social media and the helpline were addressed by me,” he said.
Mr. Udhayanidhi added that he would follow up on certain complaints and visit the affected areas in person along with GCC Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran and other authorities.
He said all relief centres in the city have been kept ready and food had already been distributed at these places.
According to data from the Greater Chennai Corporation, a total of 68 cooking centres were functioning across the city as of 7 a.m. on Wednesday and had collectively prepared 1,46,950 breakfast meals for distribution.
He also reviewed the status of traffic movement in 22 subways and the monitoring of water levels in key areas at the ICCC.
“The Chief Minister has instructed Ministers to monitor conditions in the delta regions. All departments are on high alert,” the Deputy Chief Minister stated.
