The SDNB Vaishnav College, Chromepet, in association with The Hindu – Civil Service Aspirants’ Club and Shankar IAS Academy, organised an Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Aspirants’ Meet recently in Chennai.
Vaishnavi Shankar, Director, Shankar IAS Academy, shared the mechanics behind the question paper pattern, marking pattern, required subjects, aptitude test, and what percentage of marks is to be expected. She advised students to prepare for six months while prioritising National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) books from Classes VI-XII and reading newspapers daily.
S.K. Dogra, former Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police (DGP), advised students to prepare for the exam with complete concentration and commitment. He said in order to prepare for the personality interview round, aspirants should start aiming to be an IAS, IFS, or IPS officer from day one of their preparation. He also shared his social media handles in case aspirants wanted any further advice.
P. Subramaniam, Deputy General Manager, The Hindu (Chennai Region Head), stressed the significance of making reading a habit while preparing for the UPSC exams. The Hindu team also donated books to the college library. K. Kanthimathi, principal of the college, participated.
