VHP approaches Kerala HC, seeks ‘Devaprasnam’ at Sabarimala temple

The State unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has filed a petition before the Kerala High Court, seeking conduct of a ‘Devaprasnam’ at Sabarimala temple. The last such ‘Devaprasnam’ was conducted in 2018. After that, many ‘untoward incidents’ happened at the temple, including those related to women’s entry into temple premises. In addition, the shifting of ‘Navagraha Pratishta’ was done without seeking the deity’s permission. So, a panel of experts must be constituted and a ‘Devaprasnam’ conducted before the next Mandala season, the petition says.

This comes a few days after the State unit of the VHP submitted a petition to the High Court seeking a comprehensive audit of gold, silver, and other valuables in temples that are managed by the five Devaswom boards.
