Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay claimed on Saturday that true cadre of former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa were questioning the AIADMK-BJP alliance, and people would not accept this alliance.

Speaking near K.S. Theatre on Salem Road here, Mr. Vijay claimed that the DMK, in their election manifesto promised to build a memorial for Dr. P. Subbarayan, former Premier of the Madras Presidency, who hailed from Tiruchengode in Namakkal, but had not done so.

Listing the election promises of the DMK for Namakkal district, Mr. Vijay said they had not been fulfilled. Due to poverty and usury, powerloom workers in Namakkal district, especially women, had been forced to sell their kidneys, and after the TVK came to power, the people who were involved in the kidney racket would be punished severely.

Mr. Vijay said people needed quality food, education, drinking water, medical facilities, transport, and protection for women. “We won’t give false promises such as those given by Mr. Stalin. TVK only gave promises that are practically possible. The TVK will not have any relationship with the BJP; but the DMK has an indirect relationship with the BJP, though on the surface, they make it look like they are fighting with each other,” Mr. Vijay added. People should know that voting for the DMK is like voting for the BJP, he said.

Stating once again that the 2026 election will be a TVK vs. DMK battle, Mr. Vijay said the Union government did not abolish NEET and did not release funds for education too.
