Mayor Beena Philip said that the activities undertaken by the Kozhikode Corporation Council over the past five years had ensured that citizens got the services they deserved and that it upheld their self esteem.
Recounting the achievements of the outgoing council, she said a ‘Vikasana Sadassu’ is being held on Saturday (October 25, 2025) and Sunday (October 26, 2025) at the New Palayam Market building to collect public opinion regarding the desired development for the city.
Minister for Tourism and Public Works P.A. Mohamed Riyas will inaugurate the programme at 9.30 a.m. on Sunday, while the Mayor will preside over the event. A one-day seminar on four different developmental topics will be held on Saturday in which experts will share their views.
The seminar on ‘Infrastructure — a dialogue on infrastructure for sustainable Kozhikode’ will be held at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday. It will be moderated by former Chief Town Planner Abdul Malik. Another seminar on ‘Sanitation and health — a critical link in achieving sustainable development’, at 11.30 a.m., will be moderated by S. Jayasree, chairperson of the Health Standing Committee of the Corporation.
The seminar on ‘Urban Welfare — Ensuring Quality Life for All’ at 2.30 p.m. will be moderated by Roshan Bijlee, Director of CRC Kozhikode. Mayor Beena Philip will chair the open forum on ‘The Power of Culture — Driving Urban Innovations and Community Engagement’ at 4.30 p.m.
Meanwhile, an exhibition featuring the developmental achievements of the Corporation was inaugurated by the Mayor at the market premises on Friday (October 24, 2025). A variety of cultural programmes and a food festival are also held at the venue every evening over the three days.
