The valedictory function of skill development course, organised by V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port, held at the port premises, marking the completion of two month course of data entry operator skill training programme concluded on Wednesday.
The course was conducted as part of VOC port’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and through Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding (CEMS).
The course has benefitted 25 students in improving their technical skills and career readiness. At the event Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, VOC Port awarded course completion certificates to the students.
VOC Port is conducting a series of training programmes aimed at skilling unemployed and underprivileged youth, through CEMS, an initiative of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Several upcoming programmes to be conducted by the port through CEMS in plan include training in EXIM executives, warehouse executives, courier associate operations, welders and computer numerical control operators.
In his address, Mr. Purohit announced that over 175 youths are expected to benefit from skill based programmes in the coming months. VOC Port continues to implement initiatives in healthcare, education, community support, environmental protection and skill development through CSI initiatives.
Rajesh Soundararajan, Deputy Chairperson, VOC Port was also present at the event.
