Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday (January 24, 2026) told the Assembly that the Dravidian Model government led by the DMK would return to power in 2026.
Replying to the Governor’s address in the Tamil Nadu Assembly — which was boycotted by the AIADMK and the BJP — Mr. Stalin said that over the last five years he had “listened to his conscience” and introduced schemes for the people of the State.
“I have faith in the people of Tamil Nadu. We will win and come back to power. We will come back,” he said, amid thumping of desks by members of the treasury benches and DMK allies.
He said it was the alliance partners who had given him the mental strength to run the government. Referring to the Speaker, he said, “The Speaker functioned like a teacher.”
Former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and his supporter P. Ayyappan, representing the Usilampatti Assembly constituency, were present.
