Coimbatore recorded 34.47 mm of rainfall between Saturday (October 18, 2025) 7.30 a.m. and Sunday (October 19, 2025) 7.30 a.m., according to the district administration. Makkinampatti in Pollachi registered the highest rainfall in the district with 119 mm.
The district experienced light to moderate rainfall across most areas. Two temple watchmen on night duty at the Anjaneyar Temple along the Palar River in Pollachi were rescued by firefighters after floodwaters surrounded the temple on Saturday morning.
Due to heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats, flooding was reported at Kovai Courtallam waterfalls. The Forest Department has restricted entry into the water for safety reasons, though visitors are permitted to walk from the old parking area to the iron bridge to view the falls.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, Coimbatore district is likely to experience isolated heavy showers on Monday (October 20, 2025).
An official from the Coimbatore district administration said 16-member teams comprising officials from various departments have been deployed in each of the 11 taluks for rain-related response.
Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran said that over 6,000 personnel, from field staff to senior officials, are on duty to handle rain-related incidents. Measures are in place to deploy water pumps and sanitation workers, and the situation is being closely monitored from the Integrated Command and Control Centre.
