The Winter Session of the Delhi Assembly will begin on Monday with Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena’s speech. It will continue until January 8.

During the four-day session, the House is expected to discuss air pollution. The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports on the alleged irregularities by the previous Aam Aadmi Party government will also be tabled.

The CAG reports include irregularities in the renovation of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence, the functioning of the Delhi Jal Board, and the government-run universities.

Besides, a resolution on the issue of the authenticity of a ‘phansi-ghar’ that was inaugurated on the Assembly premises will also likely be presented in the House.

The Assembly Secretariat, in a statement, said, “The first legislative sitting of 2026 is unfolding against a backdrop of heightened scrutiny of governance, making the Winter Session a checkpoint on how effectively the administration responds to questions of performance and accountability.”

‘A fruitful session’

Earlier, Speaker Vijender Gupta has underlined the significance of constructive engagement during the session and expressed hope that the House would effectively discuss issues related to public importance, seek clarity from the government and contribute to informed decision-making in the interest of the people of Delhi, the statement said.

“I hope that it will be a fruitful session,” Mr. Gupta said.
