A 65-year-old autorickshaw driver was pushed to death allegedly by his wife and her relative over a property dispute at Manjunath Layout in Byadarahalli on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Venkatesh. He was married to Parvathy six years ago after the death of his first wife.
The police said that Venkatesh owned a building and Parvathy allegedly used to have regular fights with him to bequeath her the house or ₹5 lakh. Venkatesh refused and negotiated the amount to ₹2.5 lakh, but she was adamant.
On Sunday night, the couple fought over the same issue and Venkatesh allegedly threw her out of the house and stood on the stairs to prevent her from coming back. Enraged, Parvathy called her uncle Rangaswamy, 60, who allegedly manhandled Venktesh to allow Parvathy to get into the house, said the police.
In the melee, Venkatesh slipped and fell on the road and sustained a severe head injury. He was rushed to hospital where he died later.
The Byadarahalli police have registered a case of murder against Parvathy and Rangaswamy, and arrested the duo on Monday.
