Woman found dead in water tank

A 50-year-old woman’s mortal remains in a decomposed state was recovered from a kanmai (tank) near Ramanathapuram on Tuesday. 

Police said, the body of the woman, aged approximately 50, was found floating in the water of the Peravoor tank, behind the temple located on the tank’s embankment.  

Upon being informed by the public, the Kenikarai police arrived at the scene.  

Subsequently, the police informed the Fire and Rescue Services team, who successfully recovered the body struck in plants grown inside the water.  

The body was then sent to the Ramanathapuram Government Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination. 

The identity of the deceased woman and the cause of her death are currently unknown. The police have registered a case and are conducting further investigation.
