World Diabetes Day awareness programme held


SIMS Hospital, Vadapalani, held an awareness programme on Thursday to mark World Diabetes Day 2025, focusing on early screening and lifestyle modification.

Chennai Collector Rashmi Siddharth Zagade, IAS, the chief guest, launched a special diabetes package priced at ₹999 for tests worth over ₹4,000, valid for a month. She also released a patient-awareness booklet on diabetes mellitus.

The Collector visited stalls set up to educate patients and visitors on diet, medication adherence and technology-based monitoring. Continuous glucose monitoring devices were distributed free to patients with brittle diabetes. She urged the public to adopt healthy diets, yoga, regular exercise and periodic health checks to prevent complications.

S.V. Raju, Vice-President of SIMS Hospital, along with senior consultants Sundar Raman and Ravi Kiran, stressed the importance of maintaining glycaemic control and outlined the hospital’s health packages launched to mark the day.
