The Indian duo of Manush Shah and Diya Chitale qualified for the mixed doubles event of the WTT Finals to be held in Hong Kong from December 10 to 14.
No Indian in any category — singles or doubles — has made it to the WTT finals since it was introduced in 2021. The Indian pair, ranked No. 8 in the world, is the first from the country to qualify for the event.
Diya and Manush won the WTT Contender in Tunis and finished runner-up in WTT Star Contender in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil.
This is the first time mixed doubles has been introduced. The top seven pairs and one host wild card pair will fight for honours.
In 2021, ‘22 and ‘23, there were only men’s singles and women’s singles.
