Young and the Restless gives Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) absolutely determined to destroy Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) for stealing from him and lying to his face repeatedly. He is ready to burn down her life. And I suspect he’s going to turn the Abbotts against her, among many others in Genoa City.
We’re going to talk about how Cane may go to the Abbotts and tell them how Phyllis is conspiring with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) to do them dirty and rip their family legacy away from them.
At this point, Cane knows a few things. First, Phyllis hacked into Arabesque and stole his AI. Second, Cane knows Phyllis took it to Victor Third, Cane knows Phyllis is the reason his company is in ruins and Arabesque is now worth pennies on the dollar. Fourth, Caneknows Phyllis asked Victor for Jabot. And fifth, Cane knows Phyllis is still lying to his face. Then again, let’s be real, she’s always been a lying liar who lies. She kept lying and denying to Cane that she had anything to do with stealing the AI. At this point, Phyllis is just insulting him because he knows the truth.
Cane Ashby’s Vow for Vengeance Against Phyllis on Young and the Restless
So, Cane finally got fed up and he took off the polite mask he’s been wearing and vowed to make Phyllis pay. Cane said he’d make sure that not only would she never get her hands on Jabot, but he’d also make sure Phyllis never got another job in Genoa City. At the point that Cane made the threat about Jabot, Phyllis wasn’t even denying it. She was just acting shocked that Cane was threatening her, but Phyllis shouldn’t be surprised.
Now Cane wants to absolutely burn Phyllis down. And I think he’s going to go about it very systematically. I suspect Cane’s first move may be to march back over to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and give them a nice big update. If you remember back in October when the AI first went missing, Cane suspected Victor had it and he wanted to warn them because he would obviously target Jabot. At the time, Diane suspected Phyllis was the hacker that stole the AI, but Cane didn’t have confirmation. He hadn’t dug in deep enough to really confirm, yes, Phyllis had to be the AI thief. But now Cane knows that, and he knows a lot more.

He knows what Phyllis is looking to get from the dirty deal she made with Victor for the AI. So, I expect Cane might circle back to Diane and Jack even though they said he’s the enemy and to stay away from them. I’m sure Cane won’t mind pushing the boundaries and dropping by to say, “Oh, by the way, yeah, Phyllis did steal the AI and she made a deal with Victor that she’s going to get Jabot as the price of her handing over the company-destroying program that she took from him.”
I’m sure Jack will be stunned. It’s one thing for him and Diane to know that Victor would try and destroy Jabot. That’s any given Monday. But it’s another thing for Phyllis to want to take Jabot from Jack and the Abbotts. Phyllis and Jack had a very deep love. They were married more than once. And at one point, Phyllis and Jack seemed to be soulmates. As frustrating as Phyllis can be, I know Jack still worries about her. But Phyllis plotting with Victor to take the company that John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) founded, well, that is quite another thing and it will not be tolerated. Not one bit.

From there, Jack or Diane will probably tell Summer Newman (Allison Lanier). After all, her company Marchetti is part of Jabot, and so they have to fill her in on the shutdown plan and all that. Phyllis trying to steal Jabot from the rightful owners would leave Summer totally appalled by her mom. There are so many reasons she’d be furious with Phyllis over this.
First, for hurting Jack and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) by stealing Jabot, and second, because Jabot is the legacy that Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell) would inherit, but Phyllis is snatching it away for herself. Now, she can try and rationalize it and say that she would hand it down to Harrison, but it’s not hers to do.
From that point, I would expect Summer to turn around and tell her brother Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) what their mom is up to and what havoc she’s wreaking. He’ll side with Summer. And then both of Phyllis’s kids will say that she’s not changed since she faked her death and then swore she was a new person and she’d learned from her mistakes. But no, she’s the same old liar who only cares about herself on Young and the Restless. I wouldn’t be surprised if Daniel and Summer cut Phyllis out of their lives and her grandkids’ lives.
Isolating Phyllis: How Cane Will Turn Genoa City Against Her on Y&R
Cane lost his kids, and he knows how much that hurts. So, yeah, I definitely think he’d get the ball rolling so Phyllis would lose her kids. Even if Jack didn’t tell Summer or Daniel what Phyllis is up to, I am certain that Cane will make sure that Summer and Daniel find out. He and Phyllis talked a lot about how much their kids mean to them. And she told Cane that he shouldn’t give up on his kids because her kids finally forgave her. So, if he makes sure that Summer and Daniel turn on her, then Cane would be really hitting Phyllis where it hurts.
Also, Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) going to find out. He’ll chew Phyllis a new one. And Billy might even roast Phyllis on his new media platform, AbbottComm. Also, we know the word’s going to spread. Michael Baldwin (Christian Jules Leblanc) and Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) will be disgusted with Phyllis. The three of them just made peace and that’ll probably go out the window.
Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) is going to be horrified when he hears. He may cut Phyllis off. Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) won’t be surprised. Cricket would see this as a typical Phyllis move. Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), of course, already despises Phyllis and finding out what she’s doing to the Abbotts would close the door that wasn’t really open anyway to any future job prospects. She would be persona non grata with all the Hamiltons and Winters.
The Final Downfall: Phyllis Blacklisted and Betrayed
Cane wasn’t kidding when he said he’d make sure Phyllis won’t work in Genoa City again. When Cane’s done with her, I don’t think Phyllis will be able to get a job pouring coffee at Crimson Lights or waiting tables at Society or bartending at the GCAC, especially not since Cane owns it. So, after he blackballs her all around town, Phyllis may think, well, you know, at least I still have Jabot.

But let’s be real, there is no way that she is ever going to get it. And if she did, there’s no way she’s ever going to keep it. Victor never keeps up his side of a deal. All he does is dirty business. I don’t even know how anybody makes a business deal with him anymore because no matter what the terms are, Victor always pulls something shady.
He has done it with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver). He’s done it with all of his kids. He has done it with so many people. Phyllis was already worried about this, that she was only going to get a shell of Jabot and that totally could happen. That’s what happened when he stripped Glissade down and basically just gave the name and a few employees to Diane as part of that deal. Or Phyllis may get nothing at all.
Once this all blows up in her face, I expect Phyllis to go bat crap crazy and retaliate against Cane and go into a full spiral. We know Phyllis is never going to back down and admit she’s wrong. She’s always going to hold a grudge. She’s always going to blame other people for the messes that she gets herself into.
